Microsoft is expected to introduce its two new Xboxes at E3 2019, with a release announced at the end of 2020. The technical sheets of the two consoles are partly known, including the presence of SSDs. Halo Infinite will be one of the first games available on this new generation.
Microsoft will present its two next-generation Xboxes at E3 2019, june 11-14 in Los Angeles, jeuxvideo.com said. According to the media, the Scarlett project comes in two consoles, code names Xbox Lockhart (entry-level) and Xbox Anaconda (high-end). The latter is expected to be marketed at a price roughly equivalent to that of the Xbox One X when it is released.
Released at the end of 2020 for Xbox Lockhart and Anaconda
JVC also reports that the technical characteristics of recently leaked devices appear to be confirmed. In particular, we learn that both Xboxes will be equipped with an SSD. Here is a summary of the likely technical sheets:
Xbox Lockart
- CPU Custom 8 Cores – 16 Zen threads 2
- GPU Custom NAVI 4 Teraflops
- 12GB of RAM GDDR6
- SSD 1TB NVMe 1-GB/s hard drive
Xbox Anaconda
- CPU Custom 8 Cores – 16 Zen threads 2
- GPU Custom NAVI 12 Teraflops
- 16GB of GDDR6 memory
- SSD 1TB NVMe 1-GB/s hard drive
Both consoles would be released towards the end of 2020. This is also the estimated release date of Sony's PS5. It is expected to be presented later this year as well. But it won't be at the same time as Microsoft since Sony announced its absence from E3. Among the first games available on the new Xbox will be Halo Infinite, which will also have an Xbox One version.
We are therefore looking forward to E3 2019 to find out more. But Redmond's firm could treat us a long time before. It now seems certain that Xbox games will land on Nintendo Switch. Apps and the Xbox Game Pass will also be available on the hybrid console. More information can be seen at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2019 in San Francisco from March 18-22.
