Bluesky: a non-advertising method of making money
The recently released details of the Bluesky future monetization plan revealed a fast-growing social platform. The latter is based on two main axes: a paid membership plan and a tip jar option for the authors.
Premium membership: a value proposition implying status and without privileges
The final perks of the free membership account will include; Users will be allowed to download videos at a higher resolution while the premium account will allow customizations of one’s profile. However, unlike other platforms, Bluesky was very careful to explain that this subscription would provide no special privileges. According to Rose Wang, the director of operations, no visibility boost or certification badge would be given to premium members.
Proposed, a tipping system for the sake of the creators
Moreover, for the creators Bluesky will establish something like the “tipping point”. One of the main problems was in addressing the needs of a diverse and creative audience including artists, writers, developers, and many other categories of users, and making a voluntary monetization path for them, – the platform’s statement in the blog concluded.
$15 million in funding
Bluesky has shared these early monetisation strategies when it launched its Series A funding round which attracted $15 million in investments. While Web3 venture capital firm Blockchain Capital is the lead investor, the platform emphasized that it will not “hyper financialize the social experience (tokens, cryptocurrency trading, NFTs, etc.).”
Growth backed up by rejection of other social network sites
The number of users on the platform has now gone past 13M, out of which an appreciable number of spams are from Platform X which was temporarily banned in Brazil. Some people followed suit soon after X tweaked elements of its product – such as blocking – that Bluesky was lacking.
The choice between Wi-Fi and Thread
Ultimately, the best choice depends on your specific needs. Wi-Fi devices are perfect for small-sized smart home installations with only a few devices.
