Signal facilitates private group calls with call links

by Jerry

A feature that in its design is intended to be uncomplicated
With call links, the organisation of group calls is made easy through Signal secure messaging app reducing the complexity to merely click on a link. In earlier versions of the app, one had to join a call, which was then replaced by chat where the user opens it through a shared link. This makes its use as fast and easier as possible especially for those who may not be so conversant with most secure messaging apps.

Privacy remains a priority
Signal knows the importance of data protection and even though it has introduced Group call it has made it as simple as possible. And unlike some messaging apps, group calls via link remain protected by end-to-end encryption so anyone outside the call cannot listen or view the shared content. This high level of security satisfies the high level of privacy that some people desire without further ado.

Higher competition for other platforms
With call links, Signal therefore competes with services such as Zoom or WhatsApp or Google Meets, all of which now have call link functionalities for meetings. However, to compete, all these applications lack features and revenue generation as Signal is free of ads and doesn’t collect user data.

More availability and acceptability
Being able to join a call via link makes Signal as inclusive and convenient for everyone from families to work groups and international call participants. This system helps decrease technical barriers, thus only requiring a link for a user to join a call irrespective of the familiarity to the app.
