End of Humanoid Origin
Entertainment news and the video game industry see a new loss added to its list. Humanoid Origin, an indie development studio has been shut down and no longer a part of the company. Created three years ago by Casey Hudson, former CEO of BioWare and the author of Mass Effect, Humanoid Origin has not been immune to challenges that affect the video game industry.
A fatal funding gap
In a statement made to the professional social site, LinkedIn, the studio has stated that previous attempts to insulate the team from the ebbs and flows of the industry have failed. ”Due to an unexpected deficit of funds it has become impossible to carry on our work anew,” the studio said. This news comes at quite an uninvenient time as video gaming industry has never really enjoyed the sunny side of things.
A thwarted ambition
Humanoid Origin was founded in 2021, at the time where many other staffing companies were reinitiating hiring processes within the industry following the effects of the COVID pandemic. Casey Hudson talked about this adventure as a means of freeing the creativity of developers and offering new ideas, innovative and artistic properties, intellective. The object of desire at the studio’s website was interactive elements in worlds, characters, and narratives created by promoting ‘magical’ innovation.
An aborted project
The studio stated the next year that it was developing a multiplatform AAA game in a fresh science fiction universe. The IGN news site also mentioned that Humanoid Origin was still recruiting up to this month of May this year. However, economic reality has surpassed creative visions and goals. “We are heartbroken that we will not be able to finish our new sci-fi universe,” say the studio, with the next step being to help the team members find new work.
