Nubia has just lifted the veil on the Red Magic 5S, a slightly improved version of the Red Magic 5G. The gaming smartphone features its 144 Hz display, a 4500 mAh battery compatible with 55W charging, Qualcomm's SoC Snapdragon 865 and 16GB of RAM. With his solid technical record, he tackles asus' ROG Phone 3 head-on.
On July 28, Nubia, a subsidiary of ZTE, presented the Red Magic 5S at a conference in China. This is an improved version of the Red Magic 5G launched last March. This new iteration is distinguished from its predecessor by the integration of Qualcomm's new chipset, the Snapdragon 865, which will stand up to Asus' ROG Phone 3 on the performance side.

Like its predecessor, the Red Magic 5S is built arounda 6.65-inch Full HD AMOLED display that offers a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a sampling of 240 Hz. Nubia has placed a fingerprint reader under the OLED slab. The Chinese brand incorporates physical keys dedicated to mobile gaming on slices and a 4D vibration system for better immersion.
The gaming smartphone is powered by the SoC Snapdragon 865, coupled with 8, 12 or 16GB of RAM and 128/256GB of internal storage. The Red Magic 5S offers slightly higher performance than the Red Magic 5G. The battery life is entrusted to a 4500 mAh battery compatible with the rapid wire charging of 55W. To avoid overheating, there is a home cooling system developed by Nubia.
Finally, Nubia is once again banking on a triple photo sensor consisting of a 64-megapixel main sensor, a second 8-megapixel ultra wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. On the front, the firm incorporates a sensor for 8-megapixel selfies.
Red Magic 5S Price and Release Date
The Nubia Red Magic 5S will be released in China on August 1, 2020 at the starting price of 3799 yuan, or approximately 460 euros. Discover the full tariff schedule applied to the Chinese market:
