Huawei will unveil the Mate Xs, its second smartphone with a foldable screen, at a conference organized as part of the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in 2020. This new iteration will be equipped with an improved central hinge and a revised technical sheet, based on SoC Kirin 990.
Interviewed by our Digital colleagues, Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's mobile division, announced the arrival of the Mate Xs, the manufacturer's second foldable smartphone. Unsurprisingly, the terminal will be revealed at the Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona. As a reminder, the show will open its doors from February 24 to 27, 2020. The event will be available to journalists a few days earlier. That's probably when Huawei will unveil its Mate Xs.
During the interview, Richard Yu specifies that the Mate Xs will be powered by the SoC Kirin 990 engraved in 7nm, the chip that already equips the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. Launched earlier this year, the current Mate X is content with a Kirin 980 chip presented in 2018. According to other information already available, the foldable smartphone will be 5G compatible and equipped with a quadruple photo sensor. However, Google services, including the Play Store, are still expected to be absent. This is also the case for future P40s.

Like Samsung, Huawei develops a new hinge
The Mate Xs will feature a new Falcon Wing Hinge Mecanism hinge for the foldable screen. Like its rival Samsung, Huawei has decided to review the most fragile aspects of its terminal. The firm even overhauled the structure of the foldable screen. The smartphone would be released in Europe as early as April 2020.
This year, Huawei had already taken advantage of the MWC to unveil the first foldable Mate Xable, just days after the presentation of Samsung's Galaxy Fold. In 2020, the calendars of the two manufacturers are visibly set to repeat themselves. The latest news is that Samsung will introduce the Galaxy Fold 2, a Motorola Razr-style foldable clamshell smartphone, around February 18, 2020. In the process, the manufacturer will present the Galaxy S11. What do you expect from Huawei's next foldable device? We are waiting for your opinion in the comments.
