Google announced last Monday that it has begun tests so that video descriptions are also created by AIs; feature is only available for English videos
Google is testing a feature for creating video descriptions on YouTube that will be done by artificial intelligence. The news was revealed by the company last Monday (31) through the support page of the video platform. The feature will be shown on the search page and on the video watch page.
As Google explains on its website, the tests are available to a limited number of videos and viewers. The AI description, for now, will only work with English-language productions.
Google did not disclose about description identification made by AI
Google’s post on YouTube’s support page doesn’t provide visual details of the feature — showing what artificial intelligence’s AI summary identification will look like. However, the company said that this automatic description will be shown on the video’s watch page and during the search.
Because it is only available for English-language content, it is speculated that only accounts based in English-speaking countries are participating in the test. We tried to test the feature using a VPN and accessing the main English-language channels, but we could not see any indication of the test.
It is natural that when creating a feature where the description will be done by AI, Google adds a tag or some identification to inform the user that the summary of the video was not made by a human.
On the site, Google asks participating accounts to give feedback on the feature if they “bump into” text made by the AI. The company claims that this feature will not replace the description made by the creator – who can advertise some advertising in the summary.
