Huawei is currently working on a foldable smartphone equipped with a stylus and a total of 6 photo sensors, a patent reveals. Given the timing, it could well be the Mate X2, the third smartphone with folding screen of the Chinese brand. Here are the first information available on its design and technical sheet.

Huawei has just filed the patent for a new foldable smartphone with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, report our colleagues at 91Mobiles on 31 January 2020. The diagrams that accompany the patent describe a smartphone very similar to the first Mate X. Based on the diagrams, 91Mobiles designed 3D renderings showing the design of the terminal.

First glimpse of the Mate X2?
There is a large foldable screen that can transform the smartphone into a small tablet. Unlike Samsung, Huawei is not getting into the fashion of the foldable clamshell smartphone. However, this new smartphone is distinguished from the Mate X by its screen that folds inwards rather than outwards. On this side, the terminal is closer to Samsung's Galaxy Fold.
There are also 6 photo sensors. A double vertical photo sensor is visible on the border to the left of the foldable screen. On the back side, Huawei plans to place a quadruple photo sensor. For comparison, the Mate X has to settle for a triple P30 Pro-style photo sensor.
Unlike the Mate X, this new foldable smartphone comes with a stylus. This accessory can be stored in the vertical border. For the record, Huawei has already launched a smartphone with a stylus: the Mate 20 X. Launched at the end of 2018, the gaming smartphone was distinguished by its M-Pen stylus, the same as that of MediaPad tablets.
According to 91Mobiles, the patent describes the Huawei Mate X2, the firm's third foldable smartphone, which is not expected to be released until the second half of 2020. Before launching the Mate X2, Huawei will first present the Mate XS at the MWC 2020. This is an improved and revamped version of its first foldable smartphone. Huawei has included an improved central hinge, a more robust folding screen and the Mate 30's SoC Kirin 990. We'll tell you more as soon as possible.
