Although it is still not one of the world's top 3 smartphone sellers, LG is getting a little closer each year. After selling 59.1 million smartphones in 2014, a quarter more than in 2013, it sold as many as 59.7 million in 2015. The gap between the two years remains smaller but the Korean still broke its own record, even if its annual growth has slowed a little.
No more wins in 2015 than in 2014!
In total, LG's mobile arm generated no less than 15.3 million sales and $3.26 billion in revenue in the fourth quarter of 2015, an increase of 12% over the previous quarter. Nevertheless, over the whole year, nothing has changed, they have earned almost as much money as the previous year, however, it will be noted that korean sold more devices in the United States than in 2014, especially high-end.
Two high-ends in 2016?
Last year, LG released two flagships, the LG G4 and the V10 which unfortunately remains reserved for some markets. Within a month, the LG G5 will be official and should inaugurate a new unibody metal design, while retaining its removable battery, unlikesome competitors but according to the latest statements of LG, a second high-end should follow,a little later in the year, probably the successor of the V10.
The smartphone market is expected to become increasingly competitive in 2016 due to the number of high-end models expected and increased price competition. The introduction of two new flagship models with more competitive prices is expected to improve profitability in 2016.
