Samsung has just unveiled the full technical sheet of the Galaxy A42 5G, a mid-range smartphone that was made official in early September. The manufacturer had been quiet about the features of the device. We now know what he's hiding under his hood.
Samsung is preparing to expand its offering of 5G-compatible mid-range smartphones. The next proposal will be the cheapest in its catalogue. In early September, the manufacturer had formalized the Galaxy A42 among several products including the Galaxy Tab A7 and the Galaxy Fit 2. We just knew at the time that it would be 5G compatible and carry a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display.
The brand has just unveiled the entire technical sheet of the smartphone in a new infographic. The Galaxy A42 is cut into the same category as the OnePlus North, the nice surprise of the year at the manufacturer, the Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite that was launched last March or the brand new Google Pixel 4a.
Galaxy A42: Snapdragon 750G and a large battery of 5000 mAh
Samsung chose the Snapdragon 750G over the 765G which is inside all the competitors of the Galaxy A42 mentioned above. Let the cardinal order of numbers not deceive you. The Snapdragon 750G is 4 to 10% more powerful than the 765G according to the first Benchmarks. The Galaxy A42 chip is supported by 4, 6 or 8GB of RAM depending on the version chosen and 128GB of storage.
The smartphone also has a microSD port. It is possible to add up to 1TB of space to the basic storage. For the photo part, Samung relies on four sensors: a 48MP main module, an 8MP ultra wide-angle and two 5MP sensors playing the role of ToF and macro respectively. The selfie sensor has a definition of 20 megapixels.
The Samsung Galaxy A42 is also equipped with a large battery of 5000 mAh which promises a very comfortable battery life especially since the screen is HD-definition. Finally, the smartphone will be available in November, without further details. We do not yet know if it will be offered in France. This is very likely knowing that it is advertised in Belgium at a price of 379 euros.
