(San Jose, USA) A new processor from Qualcomm will be visible in phones from Xiaomi, Realme and Honor, among other brands, from now on. The manufacturer announced the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3, whose promise is to deliver high-end smartphone features in models marketed at more affordable prices. That old talk that technology reaches the most expensive items first and then starts to become popular.
Qualcomm highlights three pillars of the Snapdragon 8S Gen 3. The first of these is generative artificial intelligence, the favorite topic of 11 out of 10 Silicon Valley executives. It is able to expand photographs (with computer-generated elements) without relying on the internet. It also runs language models with up to 10 billion parameters.
On the camera side, the SD 8S Gen 3 supports up to 200-megapixel sensor. Qualcomm also promises that the low-power camera is always on hand to perform face unlock faster.
The hardware features also provide for native ray tracing and support for screens with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, a number considered high for today. It doesn’t hurt to remember: the bigger it is, the more fluidity in the use of the graphic elements of the phone’s system.
The connectivity part of Qualcomm’s new SoC provides for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G network (Release 17) via Snapdragon X70 modem.
It is not yet known which will be the first smartphone with the new SoC. Qualcomm has limited itself to saying that it should be announced later this month.
