Onboard entertainment
The following release of information was recent and mind boggling for the users of German automaker Volkswagen. Actually, several models of the brand, whether electric or not, shall soon receive a series of casual multiplayer games to be accessed via the mobile phone, to be used as a controller.
A strategic partnership
It is offering from Volkswagen and AirConsole, the video games service to be implemented in the ID. 7, ID. 5, ID. 4 and ID. 3 model lines and with the new Passat, Tiguan, Golf and Golf Estate.
Implementation and availability
To activate this feature, one has to switch on the AirConsole application on the Volkswagen Active Info Display and then uses the smartphone to scan a QR Code. The backseat passengers will also be allowed to get into multiplayers. However, “it is important to note that AirConsole will only work when the vehicle is stationary,” the company said, suggesting that this offer is geared towards making occupants of the car remain entertained during long stops, be it when recharging an electric car or during a stopover.
It is expected to reach selected European market by mid of September before it expanded more games and territories.
A fundamental trend
AIR tob not the first car producer who integrate AirConsole into vehicles because BMW started it in the past year. The act of incorporating video games in cars has been something that has been on rise within the last few years and is on the spotlight with Tesla even allowing the owners of certain models to access the Steam platform.
Hence, entertainment on the road receives a new twist to mean that all peoples can have an opportunity to spend their time in a good way.
