The NES Classic Mini is about to make its big comeback! Nintendo has officially announced the return of its hit console as of June 29, 2018 in stores. This time, the NES Classic Mini will be available sufficiently until the end of the year, Nintendo has promised.
At the end of 2016, the NES Classic Mini was a victim of its success. Offered at 59.99 euros, the console was a real hit, so much so that the dealers quickly found themselves out of stock. Despite this success, Nintendo decided to stop sales of the NES Classic Mini in early 2017. Caught off guard by the high demand, the Japanese firm did not have the resources to continue production.
NES Classic Mini: the console will be available all year round, promises Nintendo
On online sales sites like Ebay, the prices of the NES Classic Mini quickly soared. Even today, it is not uncommon to see the auctions rise above 500 euros, for an average starting price around 100 euros. Unscrupulous dealers have even flooded the market with copies of the console. Fortunately, this period is almost over.
As promised last year by Nintendo, production of the NES Classic Mini has resumed! On its Twitter account, Nintendo announced the return of the console to the bins on June 28 in the USA. This time, the manufacturer decided to look at it big. "This console and the #SNESClassic Edition should be available until the end of the year," Nintendo said in its tweet.
This is exactly the same console as the one sold at nearly 2 million copies at the end of 2016. The NES Classic Mini comes with 30 pre-installed games, such as Super Mario Bros 1, 2, 3, Donkey Kong Jr., or The Legend of Zelda. The NES will be sold at the same price as in 2016, i.e. 59.99 euros. So far, Nintendo has not specified anything for the European market.
