Nintendo Direct took place on January 11, 2018 without any real prior communication from the Japanese publisher but offered us several highly anticipated announcements, especially with regard to the Switch. Games that exist on other consoles like Hyrule Warriors and Dark Souls will be adapted, Mario Tennis Aces will be released in the spring and the very popular Super Mario Odyssey will offer a free DLC to players including a new game mode.
The Nintendo Direct Mini was held on January 11, 2018 without much to be expected. Several rumors had indicated this date for the next big announcements of Nintendo, but the publisher had not confirmed so we thought we would have to wait. Then the Nintendo Direct is suddenly out of nowhere to tell us what awaits us regarding the games on Nintendo Switch in the coming months.
Dark Souls, Donkey Kong and Mario Tennis Aces arrive on Switch
On the novelty side, Mario Tennis Aces is scheduled to be released on the Switch in spring 2018. For the first time since the GameBoy Advance, the Mario tennis game will have a story mode. Dark Souls Remastered, scheduled for May 25, 2018, is simply a remastered version of the first Dark Souls. Payday 2 will be released on February 27, 2018. Will any of them be able to claim a place in our selection of the best Switch games?
Two adaptations of Wii U games will also land on Switch. The first is Hyrule Warriors, a hack and slash set in the Zelda universe, which will be available in the spring. It will of course be reworked graphically, add cross characters in Breath of the Wild and include all DLCs. The second game to come on Switch since the Wii U is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, for release scheduled for May 4, 2018. Advertisements that make you want to buy a Switch, of which 1 million units have already been sold in France.
In other good news, the arrival of a free DLC for Super Mario Odyssey in February 2018. Luigi will join his brother Mario to unlock a new competitive multiplayer game mode that will consist of hiding balloons that other players will look for or vice versa to look for balloons that other players have hidden. On the other hand, you will have to go to the checkout to take advantage of the new DLC on Pokken Tournament DX. Available on January 31 for the first and March 23 for the second, they will offer new playable characters like Tortank and new media like Mew and Celebi.
