Xbox Scarlett: 4x more power than Xbox One, 8K, Ray Tracing… 2020
We know a little more about the two consoles in the "Scarlett Project" – in other words, the next generation of Xbox consoles. The console will be powerful, very powerful. Xbox Scarlett will benefit from a custom AMD chip based on Zen 2 architectures for the CPU and Navi for the GPU. That's 4 times the performance of Xbox One X and Raytracing.
Thus the console will play in 4K native of 60 FPS up to 120 FPS – while being 8K compatible. Microsoft promises to collapse loading times with internal SSD storage 40 times faster than current hard drives. A fact sheet that, in broad outlines, evokes that of the PS5 whose rumors are beginning to draw a sketch-robot.
In all, both consoles are expected to exceed 10.7 TFLOPS of raw power. But that's not all: because we already know the name of one of the platform's illustrious exclusives – a new Halo Infinite arrives on the Scarletts, and just the latter…
Xbox Game Pass is now available in beta on PC: 100 games for 1 euro in the first month
Microsoft also announced the arrival of the Xbox Game Pass on PC! The beta is now open – to take advantage of this, you need to make sure you've installed the Windows 10 update in May 2019. This new beta service gives unlimited access to a catalog of 100 games make you can check out the list here. But also discounts on the purchase of catalog games and extensions to keep access to a game when you are no longer a subscriber.
The first month is only 1 euro, then the following months are, for the moment, 3.99. In a second step, Microsoft specifies that the price of the subscription will be aligned with the Xbox Game Pass console, i.e. 9.99 euros per month. Subscribers are entitled to 20% off catalog games and 10% off extensions and other in-app purchases.
xCloud: Stadia competitor launches in October 2019
Microsoft has been ahead of its streaming gaming service for almost a year – we learn that Project xCloud (that's its provisional name) is on its final stretch before launch. Unlike Stadia, the price of the service is not yet known, among other things. But we know that like Google, Microsoft will rely on its network of data centers all over the world.
Above all, we now know that the service will rely, in addition to this, on the ability to stream games from your console. "Two months ago we connected all Xbox developers to the xCloud project,"Spencer said. He added: "The streaming service will "transform your Xbox One into your own xCloud server, both personal and free."
Unlike Google Stadia, which announces a list of 27 games at launch, the Xbox xCloud will give access to "your entire Xbox One bookstore — including Xbox Game Pass games." In addition, visitors to E3 2019 had early access to the service – at least on the show. We do not yet know the price of the paid component of the service, nor the subscription model, unlike Stadia.
But we already know there will be a free game. xCloud arrives in October 2019.
