Spencer says the Xbox Series X will deliver "better gameplay experiences" and not just "more pixels on the screen": the console should prioritize the number of frames per second over the quality of the 4K and 8K definition. It remains to be seen how far the game developers will have to make the trade-offs.

"When you think about the future, the feel of games was really something we wanted to focus more on, not just tossing more pixels on the screen,"explains Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, as quoted by DualSHOCKERS. He added: "With the Xbox One X generation I think we've reached a point where game rendering is incredible, and there are always things we can do to make it even more amazing."
The manager continues: "But I wish the sensations of the games would be as incredible as their rendering. We don't have that in the current generation, mainly because the CPU is not powerful enough compared to the GPU that is in the box to achieve sensations, number of frames per second and some continuity or variable refresh rate and other things we want."
According to Phil Spencer, it is understandable that players will probably have to compromise on definition and framerate. However, Spencer adds, "We've never really tried to limit what developers are trying to do on our platform, whether it's 60 frames per second on xbox 360 or people doing 4K to 60 IPS now on Xbox Series X."

"We want to give developers the tools to try things they want to try on any hardware platform and capabilities that can be there so they can try what they want,"he concludes. It remains to be seen what this means about the performance of the console: will the player be able to choose to play in 8K with a high framerate? Say what you think in the comments!
