Looking from afar, it looks like a Mac Mini. Looking closely, we see that it is the Xiaomi XM22AL5S. That’s the name of the mini-PC that the Chinese brand announced this week. With 12th generation Core i5 chip and 16 GB of RAM, the novelty hitches a ride on the success of the Intel Nuc line, despite the similarity to the Apple computer.
The launch was already expected. Earlier this month, images emerged of a Xiaomi mini-PC on the Chinese social network Weibo. The difference is that the prototype shown at the time had an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H processor.
The reason for the exchange has not been revealed, but the fact is that the Xiaomi XM22AL5S comes with the Intel Core i5-1240P, a 12-core chip and Iris Xe GPU integrated. The component is accompanied by 16 GB of DDR4 memory and 512 GB SSD in the default configuration.
All this was placed in a cabinet that is only 112 x 112 x 38 mm. The compact size does not impair connectivity. On the front, the Xiaomi XM22AL5S houses two USB 3.2 type A (conventional) ports. At the rear, there are more ports of the type, plus USB-C connections with Thunderbolt, HDMI and Ethernet.
Specifications also include Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 thanks to the presence of the Intel AX211 chip. The operating system is Windows 11.
Price and availability
The Xiaomi XM22AL5S will hit the Chinese market in the coming days. There, the mini-PC will have a starting price equivalent to R$ 2,800.
There is no release in Brazil or other countries, which is a shame. Maybe the equipment could even help the mini-PCs be more popular around here.
