Motorola announces X30 Pro with 200 megapixels, S30 Pro and the folding Razr 2022

Motorola announced, on Thursday (11), three new smartphones in China: the Motorola X30 Pro, S30 Pro and Razr 2022. The first model stands out for the 200 megapixel camera, while the second brings one of qualcomm’s best processors. The new version of Razr, on the other hand, bets on a more modern look and cutting-edge hardware, being quite different from the folding officialized in 2019.

The X30 Pro delivers a 6.67-inch curved OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate, 1,200 maximum brightness nits, HDR10+ and DCI-P3 color gamut. Still on the front, there is a small centralized “hole” that houses a camera dedicated to 60 megapixel selfies.

Inside, Motorola has not saved and inserted a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, combined with 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of internal storage —the other models offer the same capabilities. To keep this set on, we have a 4,610 mAh battery with 125 watt fast charging support, 50-watt wireless and 10-watt reverse.

There are three cameras in the rear: the main one with 200 megapixel ISOCELL HP1 sensor and optical image stabilization, being the first smartphone in the world to offer this amount; the ultrawide 50 megapixel secondary (which also functions as a macro); and the tertiary 12 megapixel telephoto with 2x optical zoom. In video recording, Motorola’s new top-of-the-line shoots at up to 8K at 30 fps.

Other features of the X30 Pro include: steam chamber cooling system to dissipate more heat, 5G, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, digital reader under the screen and Interface MyUI 4.0 based on Android 12, which comes shipped at all.

Motorola revived the Razr line after three years of launching the first folding. The 2022 model finally enters the top-of-the-line category, going from being an intermediary to, who knows, even “head-on” with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 4.

With an updated look, Razr 2022 offers a 6.7-inch internal OLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Motorola removed the notch from the first model and adopted a small centralized “hole” that houses a 32-megapixel camera.

The external OLED screen, called “Quick View”, is 2.7 inches long and allows you to take selfies, control music playback, display notifications, check the current weather, and more.

The embedded processor is the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which represents a considerable improvement compared to predecessors, which used 700 series chips.

There are two cameras in the rear, the main being 50 megapixels with optical image stabilization, and the ultrawide secondary of 13 megapixels with a field of view of 121 degrees. Although two sensors seemed “little” by today’s standards, the first Razr had only one.

The battery has undergone improvements and now adds up to 3,500 mAh — the predecessor delivered 2,800 mAh. Motorola’s new foldable also hits the market with stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, 5G and digital reader under the screen.

S30 Pro: a thin and powerful device
The Motorola S30 Pro can be considered a simpler version of the X30 Pro. In addition to bringing high-level specifications, it stands out for delivering a premium design and only 7.6 mm thick.

The curved OLED display is 6.55 inches with Full HD+ resolution, 144 Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. The small centralized “hole” houses the camera for selfies and 32 megapixel video calls.

Inside, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 of the X30 Pro comes out and enters the Snapdragon 888+ which, although not the most powerful of Qualcomm, remains one of the best chips on the market.
